Images Festival 2024 | Opening Party: Ana Luisa at The Embassy

Celebrate the opening of the 37th Images Festival at our official night bar, The Embassy! From 11pm-1am, Ana Luisa will be providing sounds for a night guaranteed to move your soul and spirit on the dance floor.

Ana Luisa is a Toronto-based DJ, producer, promoter and curator from Caracas, Venezuela. Her sets and productions, fine tuned for the dance floor, largely encompass Latin American rhythms and experimental club sounds. She co-produces club night @venen_0, facilitates educational programs via @_pressedplay_ and is a resident on @iso.radio. She has made appearances in NTS Radio, Rinse FM, The Lot Radio, Rhythmic Culture, Boiler Room and more, and her music has been released via Caballito Netlabel (ESP), NAAFI (MEX), Jupiter4 (BER) and Deprerreo (ESP/MEX).

Throughout April 11-15th, treat yourself to a limited run of the Images Cocktail at The Embassy! A delightful, house-infused vodka spiked lemonade. It is the most affordable drink on the menu, available for $13.

The Embassy is cash only (an ATM is available in the basement).

Images Festival operates on land stolen from the Anishinaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, the Huron-Wendat, and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Tkáron:to is currently home to diverse Indigenous and Métis peoples as well as people who settle on this land. As part of Treaty 13 and the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Covenant, we acknowledge that we all eat from the same bowl and spoon, and must take only what we need, ensuring resources are available for all.

As art workers, artists, and curators, we see the process of untangling ourselves from settler complicity as internal, structural, and ongoing. It is not something to be taken lightly. The inclusion of Indigenous artists and curators into our program is just the first step of necessary and deeper change. Extending from our organizational accountability work, we strive to not only undo forms of complicity, but also actively create an environment and infrastructure that can support Indigenous peoples who work with us.

Images expresses our solidarity with Indigenous people on Turtle Island and globally. We are committed to continuing to learn, critique, and challenge the settler colonial structures we are complicit in.
