The Curatorial Assistant supports the Programming Director by conducting research and assisting with the preparation of socially and politically responsive projects, including screenings, exhibitions, public events, and publications. Key responsibilities include research, maintaining databases, drafting documents, note-taking, and potentially liaising with galleries, artists, curators, and distributors.
The ideal candidate is familiar with the Images Festival and the 2024 programming cycle. They will have a strong interest in experimental moving images, care-based practices, and contemporary art. With a background in visual culture, curatorial studies, museum studies, cinema studies, or a related field, they will demonstrate a sustained interest in these topics. This role is suited for a collaborative team player who is also capable of working autonomously, with excellent organizational skills and eagerness to contribute in a dynamic programming environment.
This is a part-time, short-term contract based in Toronto.
Compensation: $25.05/hour inclusive of applicable taxes and CPP/EI contributions
